Getting into details

The typical kitesurf day

Here is the course of a typical day. We adapt to your desires and weather conditions.

9am | Leaving the riad

After your breakfast at the riad, we pick you up at your place of accommodation, and we take you by 4x4 to the kitesurf spot. Every day is the opportunity to take a mini trip before sailing, passing in front of the ruins of the Sultan's house!

We will equip you with equipment adapted to your person and the wind conditions.

10am-12pm | Kitesurf lesson

Kitesurfing - Lessons can be given with a helmet radio from the water-start.

In case of bad weather conditions, kite lessons can be replaced by surf lessons.

12pm | Lunch break

Choose from having lunch with us in our local canteen to taste a typical dish, sandwich on the beach or drop off in a nearby restaurant.

Afternoon

If you are motivated and the conditions allow it, we can organize a second kite session.

Essaouira is full of additional activities, enjoy a camel ride, visit the medina, treat yourself to a relaxing massage...

Did you know ?

Essaouira means "the city of the wind". It is the ideal destination for kitesurfing!

Wind conditions

Essaouira wind and wave conditions

In Essaouira, there is a 3km bay of sand. On one side of the bay, we meet horses, camels and quads for walks in the sand. On the other side is the Medina and its charming fishing port.

Off the bay is the island of Mogador. This island protects the bay from the swell. Navigation in the bay is thus secure.

The Essaouira kitesurfing spot is located south of this large sandy beach. The wind is steady. This spot has no obstacles, no rocks, you are safe with your qualified instructor.

The wind is present all year round, with the best period between March and October. In case of strong swell, the bay is ideal for surfing.

In winter, the waves of the spot will delight strapless kitesurfers. In summer the spot is waveless for beginners or freestyle enthusiasts.

Other nearby spots, flat and waveriding, are accessible thanks to day trips for autonomous kitesurfers.

Essaouira experiences a Mediterranean climate. Average temperatures fluctuate from 18° in January to 30° in July. The ocean temperature varies from 17° to 23°. (we recommend a wetsuit for kiteboarding!)

The rainiest months are: january, november and december.

FAQ

Which equipment do I need

swimming suit - cap - sunscreen

When can a child start kitesurfing ?

We recommend being around 12 years old, or weighing at least 30 kilos. We have equipment suitable for light riders so that they feel safe

Should I know how to swim ?

You have to be able to swim 50m and immerse yourself in water. You will have a life jacket. Practicing kitesurfing does not require an important physical condition.

We are 2 people coming bu we have not the same level, can we still ride together ?

It is quite possible to take a semi-private lesson (each person has their own wing and you share an instructor) even if you do not have the same level. Our instructors will address each person according to their level.

On the other hand, if you are of an advanced level and want to learn jumps, freestyle... an instructor will be fully dedicated to a single student. This guarantees adapted, personalized coaching, and allows for demonstrations. When the teacher is on the water, it is safer to be with a student exclusively.

Which payment do you accept ?

I have no vehicle, how to reach the spot ?

We pick you up at your accommodation and take you to the kite spot.

However, if you choose more remote accommodation or wish to explore the surroundings, we advise you to rent a car for your stay.

How many hours do I need to be autonomous ?

It is possible to be autonomous in 5 sessions of two hours to be able to go upwind on the water. Each person is different, we support you individually in your progress.
